The Reign of Power in College Football

These three quarterbacks have been on top of college football in recent years

It seems to always be the same teams at the top of the top 25 every year in college football. You seem to always see Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Oklahoma, and the other power houses at the top. It can get boring as a fan seeing the same teams every single year. You have to give these dynasties credit though, the jobs the coaches do is outstanding, being able to recruit a great level of talent every year.

Although it's incredible to watch the runs these dynasties have been on, it would be nice to see a little more balance. It seems now with the playoff system, which is just the top four teams make it in and play for the national championship, that teams that are ranked outside the top 10 feel they have no chance at a national title. The team and their fan base just hope to win a conference title and bowl game, but no national title hopes.

Since college football averted to the playoff system we have seen almost the same teams in it every year, always being an SEC team in it. The playoff committee has kept the Big Ten out of it the past two years, which is surprising because the Big Ten is arguably one of the best conferences in the country. I hope to see a shift soon of the powerhouses in college football.

If it was more balanced then we would see higher quality games, more teams with a chance for a national title, and more to talk about. It gets old talking about the same teams every year, wouldn't it be fun to talk about some teams from mid major conferences? A more balanced league would result from changing the playoff from 4 teams to 16.

Changing the college football playoff to 16 teams would not only make the playoff more fun to watch, but it would give teams like Iowa and Wisconsin, teams that are on the outside of the playoff, have a chance to fight for a national title. The viewing of the playoff would only go up if this change happened in my opinion, it results from more fans watching their team play.

Some people may like the reign of power in college football, I didn't mind it for a couple years. After seeing the same teams battle for the championship year after year, it makes you wonder if the game of college football will always be like this. I believe the NCAA can take steps to make it more balanced, by expanding the playoff and limiting recruiting for some of the powerhouse schools, I believe the game of college football can become more balanced.
